Piedmont Emergency Medicine Associates, P.A. (PEMA) was founded in 1983 in order to provide Charlotte and its surrounding areas with an exceptional Emergency Medicine staffing service. We are an 80+ member, democratic physician-owned and managed group. All of our Emergency Medicine physicians are residency trained in Emergency Medicine and are Board Certified or Board Eligible. Coverage at all of our facilities is augmented with the use of full-time Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners.
Internal Medicine Specialists (IMS) is a Hospitalist group founded by PEMA in 1995 in response to the issue of unattached admissions from the ED. Since that time, the group has grown to encompass comprehensive inpatient and consultative services, inpatient and outpatient stress testing and extensive ICU management. All physician members are board certified or board eligible by the American Board of Internal Medicine or Family Medicine.
